William Thompson and
Son currently operate a fleet of twenty Scania lorries from their
operating centre at Birch Road, Dumbarton. The fleet is comprised of
tipper lorries to deliver the supply of quarried products and
transport inert materials to Riggangower landfill site which is next
to Sheephill Quarry also operated by the company.
The tippers range from 6 wheeled (26000kg gross weight) and 8 wheeled
tippers (32000kg gross weight) which gives flexibility in both
carrying capacity and manoeuvrability on tight sites Tipping lorries
are available for hire on an hourly basis or a rate per load. All
waste is carried under our waste carriers licence conditions.
In addition we operate two Scania tractor units which are used for
both in-house Lowloader moves and bulk delivery of our quarried
products or on a hire basis for abnormal loads up to a gross weight of
70000kg.
